High Holy Day Programs for Families & Children.

Apples & Honey Family Programs are offered as a gift to the community. In order to support our preparations and to ensure the safety of all members of our community, pre-registration is required. We ask that you please RSVP for Rosh Hashanah services no later than Monday, September 30th, and for Yom Kippur Services no later than Noon on Tuesday, October 8th.

Our lively and engaging services, created just for families, are led by Rabbi Seth Castleman and Bob Smith. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of our children during our family experiences, parental participation and supervision is required. We are delighted to offer a wide array of in-person opportunities with virtual streaming options when possible. Please note new locations for some of our Family Services allowing more space as well as the opportunity to experience the sanctity of the High Holidays.

Blessing for New Babies! Please join either the Traditional or Reform service (at approximately 10:00 a.m.) during the first day of Rosh Hashanah as we welcome and celebrate any families, grandparents, and siblings who have welcomed a new baby into their family during the past year. Please join us with your new addition, either in person or with a photo, as we share a special blessing. Rabbi Bess or Rabbi Jeremy will start the service with a welcome followed immediately by the baby blessing.

Community Tashlich at UC Davis Arboretum "I will attend this service in person" (free event)
Saturday, October 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the UC Davis Arboretum.

Join us for our Community Tashlich Service as part of our Rosh Hashanah celebration. This delightful casual service includes a symbolic casting off of sins as participants reflect upon the past year and prepare for new beginnings by throwing small bits of bread or greens. Please dress comfortably, bring a picnic blanket, and join us for this community event. More information is provided with registration.

Saturday, October 12 from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. in the CBH Social Hall.

Rabbi Seth Castleman and Bob Smith will lead us in a family-friendly service that includes traditional liturgy and music in a meaningful spiritual experience that parents and children can enjoy together. We invite you to wear white, symbolizing purity and holiness, one of the Yom Kippur traditions. Zoom option is available; Zoom link shared with registration.

Saturday, October 12 from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. in the CBH Social Hall.

Yom Kippur Break the Fast Family Service & BYO Dinner "I will attend this event in person" (free event)
Saturday, October 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the CBH Social Hall.

Join your friends and the CBH community as we return to our synagogue campus for a Break The Fast. Bring your family dinner and perhaps a picnic blanket (stay after in the Redwood Grove and supervise the children playing) for a short family-friendly service followed by one final blast of the shofar. Families are also invited to participate in the end of Neilah followed by Havdalah as we close our High Holiday celebrations.
