Registration for “A Closer Look at Implicit Bias”
Join us in a participatory workshop to learn about Implicit Bias. Implicit Bias describes how unconscious associations can shape both our perception and our actions. Because implicit biases operate outside of our awareness, they can cause us to behave in ways that are inconsistent with our consciously held thoughts and beliefs, with negative consequences for ourselves and others. On a societal level, these biases adversely impact the delivery of fair and impartial health services, education, law enforcement, employment opportunities, and more. Closer to home, implicit biases can impede our own efforts at CBH to ensure a diverse, equitable, and inclusive congregation. This is a discussion we can all take part in.
Come gain a better understanding of how implicit biases influence our lives, and how we can “flip the script.”
May 12, 2022 7:00 to 9:00 PM – Session #1 is a “stand alone” workshop. Participants will not need to attend the second workshop to have a “complete” learning experience.
June 2, 2022 7:00 to 9:00 PM – Session #2 will provide a “deeper dive” for those participants who attended session #1 and want to continue the discussion.
This workshop will be facilitated by CBH partner Bob Smith, who spent several years working on Procedural Justice programs while a consultant for the CA Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
