The Rabbi and the Adult Education Committee Present
an Encore Showing of Yidl in the Middle
Sunday, August 23, 2:00 PM, via Zoom
Yidl in the Middle is a documentary film about the experiences of a Jewish woman who grew up in Iowa in the 1950’s-1960’s. It focuses on the idea of growing up “different” in America. The filmmaker, Marlene Booth, looks at her Iowa-Jewish roots and examines the complicated process of negotiating identity – as an American, a Jew and a woman.
This film raises issues not only for those who grew up in similar places, but for all people who have faced being “different” from the majority culture or who have had to navigate being part of disparate groups.
This film was first shown at Tuesdays at Two, on August 11. For technical reasons, it was not possible to admit anyone to the Zoom room after the film had begun streaming. To make sure you are able to see the film, please arrive on time!
