[streaming] Tuesdays at 2! Heroic Rescuers in the Holocaust: Inspirational Stories to Lift Your Spirits!
April 21, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Feeling down and socially isolated during this pandemic? Come to an inspiring online lecture on April 21 at 2:00 pm Pacific/West Coast USA time (Yom Hashoah Day) by Kathy Glatter, MD, a graduate student in Gratz College’s Holocaust and Genocide Studies Program! This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust. Dr. Glatter will describe heroic rescuers during the Shoah like Chiune Sugihara, a courageous Japanese diplomat who saved thousands of Lithuanian Jews, or Fen-Shan Ho, the Chinese consulate general who gave Jewish refugees visas to Shanghai. We will touch on Carl Lutz, Raoul Wallenberg, and Rudolf Kasztner as daring liberators in Budapest, and Aristides de Sousa Mendes as a Portugese official who helped French Jews, plus more!
Why would these ordinary people risk their own lives to save Jewish strangers? This lecture will renew your hope in humanity and give you faith for our future!
