High Holy Days Digital Food Donation
Deepening the meaning of the Yom Kippur fast
We have long valued our community’s active support of Short Term Emergency Aid Committee (STEAC), Meals on Wheels Yolo County, Yolo County Food Bank, and Mazon during the High Holy Days. This has been a meaningful way for us to translate this sacred time of introspection and fasting into acts of tzedakah (righteous giving) that put food on the table for our community’s most needy. We have learned that a far more effective way to make a difference is to donate dollars instead of cans. The organizations we support have a much greater purchasing power than we do. They can buy five times more with our one dollar than we can as consumers. So we invite you to continue to participate in this time-honored Bet Haverim tradition by donating what you would have spent on groceries to one or more of these wonderful organizations that are feeding the hungry.
